The McTighe
PetroPak is designed to meet most environmental
regulations. Separators equipped with the McTighe PetroPak
can be expected to remove oil particles down to 20 microns
in size and produce an effluent quality of less than 10
PPM of free oil.

|
| A PetroPak
is a polypropylene matrix of oleophilic (oil attracting) fibers
layered from coarse to fine and enclosed within a stainless
steel framework. Small droplets of oil, normally to small
for gravity assisted separation, are attracted to these fibers
where they collect and coalesce. As the droplets merge, their
increased buoyancy soon forces upward movement and separation. |
|
| Under normal
operating conditions thePetroPak requires limited maintenance
because of its location and it is continuously purging itself
as oil droplets coalesce and rise to the surface. The PetroPak
can be cleaned by removing it from the separator and simply
hosing it down to remove oil and debris. We recommend this
cleaning procedure following heavy rain-falls, or spills,
or high-loading of the separator with foreign debris and sludge.
