The McTighe Product Saver is design
to separate oil and water in a batch type process. This equipment
is mainly used to remove condensate water from the bottom of bulk
fuel storage tanks. McTighe has separate arrangements for processing
above ground storage tanks and below ground storage tanks. Hand
or electric pumps are used to facilitate fluid transfer.
Oil and water enter the system
and pass through the diffuser within the holding tank. The diffuser
distributes the contaminated water into the tank and creates retention
time necessary for separation. This combined action causes oil
to rise to the surface and water to collect at the bottom.
The immediate separation action
continues until only product enters the Product Saver, or until
the holding tank is full to capacity at which point the inlet
valve is closed.
Clean water may then be discharged
through the water draw-off valve. Control is accomplished by observing
the product interface through the sight gauges. After all the
visible water has been discharged from the system, the product
can be completely pumped back into the oil storage tank through
a 50 PSI hand pump or optional explosion proof electric pump.
The system saves valuable product while dispensing the water.
The capacity of each cycle may
be from 45 to 525 gallons depending upon the model selected. Special
sizes, construction materials and skid mounting options are also
available.
