McTighe Industries offers an electric
motor operated, positive open, positive close fluid control valve
to prevent exceeding the separator spill containment capacity.
The valve is coupled with the time-tested McTighe level sensor
system to stop fluid flow through the separator when the unit
is flooded with product. The maximum oil spill capacity of a standard
McTighe oil-water separator is 80% of the total vessel volume.
The valve is recommended on applications where there is the possibility
of an oil spill that exceeds the spill capacity rating of the
oil-water separator.
Another application for the valve
is to stop separator flow during the few minutes needed for product
pumpout operations. This assures a greater product purity and
limits the times the product pump must cycle.
When separated product increases
to a predetermined level in the separator, the level sensor sends
a signal to the control panel activating the electric motor actuator
of the valve. An adequately sized valve relay is mounted in the
panel for control of the valve.
A drawing of the standard McTighe
inlet shut-off valve follows this page. Contact McTighe for information
regarding actuated ball valves, fire rated valves and other special
applications.
