The most popular accessory McTighe
offers is the high oil level alarm. The internal oil storage capabilities
of our oil-water separators make this option a smart choice for
indicating single or multiple oil storage levels. The system consists
of a level sensor and an alarm control panel.
The level sensor will detect the
oil-water interface and send a signal to the control panel that
typically includes a visual alarm and audible alarm with silencer.
Oil removal, after the alarm has
activated, is typically performed with a self-priming pump by
removing the access manway cover and lowering a suction hose into
the oil layer. Remove oil until the layer is sufficiently reduced.
Refill separator with water after oil removal.
As an option, McTighe has configured
a special arrangement to prevent water from being transferred
to storage after the oil alarm sounds. The McTighe Basket Stop
consists of an oil suction pipe (typically 4") with an end
that prevents suction hose passage. After the alarm activates,
simply drop a suction hose down the 4" pipe and turn on the
pump. Refill the separator with water after oil removal.
The drawing below shows a standard
high oil alarm system and include a detail of the optional Basket
Stop.
